Job Description

Responsible for planning, directing and monitoring the Head Start educational program services in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, State, County and Federal regulations. Supervises teachers and provides guidance and support to the classroom staff while monitoring classroom environments. Plans, administers and implements the delivery of education services for program children in compliance with Head Start, local, regional and federal guidelines. Supports training of teaching staff including, new staff orientation, ongoing training and guidance, and development of individual training plan for teaching staff. Monitors planned activities to ensure they meet the established goals and objectives identified in the Individual Education Plans (IEP) for children DOE certified, and individual plans designed for all children. Directly supervises classroom teachers and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the agency’s policies, Head Start Performance Standards and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood or elementary education, child development or a related field with experience teaching in an early childhood setting; supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle, and CPR/First Aid certification (may obtain CPR/FA after hire).
