The Path to Your New Job: Using all the tools

As  2021 comes to a close, your New Year’s resolution may be “to find a dream job.” 2022 is your year and the Maui County Virtual Job Fair site can help make your dream a reality. Follow the steps and see what happens!

  1. Create My Profile

First things first, sign in to the site. Next, create a profile by following the steps provided. Please upload a photo of yourself or one that coincides to the field you are looking to work in. This helps employers get a feeling for who you are and will increase your chances of getting contacted.

  1. Search Maui County Jobs

You can search by job type (full-time/part-time/temporary) or by sector. Filter out the jobs you definitely aren’t interested in and “like” the ones you want to explore further by clicking on the heart icon.

 

 

  1. Research Employers

Click on the logo of specific employers you find interesting. Once you’re on their page, click follow. Anytime a job is posted by this employer, you will receive a notification and can apply as soon as possible.

  1. Self Assessment

Are you unsure of what jobs you may be good at? Have you been through additional training or classes recently and looking for new opportunities? Are you wondering what job would be the best for your personality type? The RIASEC self-assessment test is a free resource to help you hone in on your strengths. As a result of knowing your codes, you can match yourself with job postings that have the same codes. Take the assessment here.

  1. Resume Advice

Does your resume need some sprucing up? Focus on your skills and use strong action words. This will get the attention of a future employer. Advice on what language to use in your resume can be found here.

  1. Salary Expectations

The “My Next Move” assessment has a page where you can search through career options and find out what salaries are realistic in the fields you’re interested in. Knowing the salary ranges for different fields will help you determine the long-term benefits of a new career and if it’s something that will work with your current financial situation.

  1. Preview Virtual Booths

Are you interested in meeting employers face to face at our next job fair? Or would you like to see a list of all the employers on the site? Visit the virtual booths! This is a great way to see all the current employers and plan out whose page you would like to visit.

Are you still unsure about where to start? There are helpful tips and blog stories on everything from resume building to questions you can ask an employer. Our News page is updated regularly with resource tips just for job seekers and employers.

Hirenet is another Hawaii-based job locator that shares job postings across the entire state. This resource is another great way to find local opportunities near you.
