My Next Move: How to Discover What Career is Right for You

Are you at a crossroads with your career? This could mean you want to level up your education in a field you’re already working in. Or you’re interested in moving into a totally new field. The My Next Move platform is a great starting point to get you on track with practical information.

Start here and put a job into the box. We have “electrician” as an example. Place any job in the box to see what comes up. Do this for as many jobs as you’re curious about.

The job outlook will tell you if the career you’re looking at has a bright “sunny” future. This means that pursuing this type of work means you’ll actually be able to find a job at the end of your training because the industry is growing. If the outlook is “average” there are still opportunities but it’s not a growing industry and large numbers of job openings are not expected. A “below average” outlook means finding a job in that field will be a lot harder as it’s not a growing industry.

The average salary is also available so researching jobs in your area will make it clear if a salary is enough for your living expenses.

Learn about the knowledge and skills you need for any career that looks interesting.
