We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Drilling Project Engineer. As a Drilling Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing drilling projects from initiation to completion. Your primary duties will include creating and updating project schedules, overseeing vendor communication, equipment ordering and inventory management, permit filing and follow-up, specification analysis, and sharing relevant documentation and reports with project teams. Additionally, you will be required to understand and comply with Alpha Inc.’s safety procedures, field operations, and reporting methods, as well as assist with various project-related tasks as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word to create, review, and maintain project schedules.
  • Prepare project documents, including progress reports, schedule updates, and financial/budget updates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and drillers to plan, organize, and direct project activities.
  • Assist in processing requests for information (RFIs), submittals, cost issues, and change orders.
  • Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Order and manage equipment inventory for drilling projects, ensuring availability and proper maintenance.
  • Draft purchase orders and change orders as necessary.
  • File permits with state agencies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and permitting processes.
  • Follow up on permit applications and maintain proper documentation.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust project plans and permits accordingly.
  • Read and understand technical specifications and documents to determine the necessary items and paperwork for each project.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of project-related materials.
  • Share relevant documentation and reports with project teams and stakeholders.
  • Understand and comply with Alpha Inc.’s safety procedures, field operations, and reporting methods.
  • Verify subcontractors’ compliance with the original contract work and address any issues.
  • Assist in compiling project closeout information.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project engineering, preferably in the drilling industry.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a thorough understanding of project management principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with vendors, team members, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and documents.
  • Familiarity with drilling equipment and materials is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and permitting processes is a plus.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
