Job Description

Position Overview:  The human resource manager is responsible for performing the HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with management.  This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, affirmative action and employment law compliance.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manages the hiring process to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and policies. Works with departments to ensure adequate staffing and organizational forecasting.
  • Leads recruitment process; Maintains current list of openings, determines appropriate sources for suitable candidates, accepts and screens applications, schedules and conducts initial interviews for prospective departments, compiles interview feedback, makes job offers, takes up references and organizes start dates.
  • Supports recruitment process by assisting with writing job descriptions, arranges second interviews, assists with determining hire wage rates.
  • Maintains employee files with required payroll information such as W-4’s, status notices, and additional information; maintains employment related files, such as I-9 forms and employee confidential information.
  • Ensures legal compliance with all applicable state and federal employment laws, including posting requirements; Ensures accurate administration and compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintains organization staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counsels managers on candidate selection; conducts and analyzes exit interviews; recommends changes.
  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Processes payroll through ADP portal; Ensures proper recording of hours worked, time off, sick and holiday pay; Assists employees with payroll related questions.
  • Update and revise employee handbook as necessary with direction from supervisor. Distribute policy manuals and periodic policy updates to employees.
  • Develops and implements HR policies and procedures which support the organizational and business goals of the company. Leads in development and implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that HR has appropriate forms and documents in place to fulfill the department’s responsibilities.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
  • Works closely with management and staff to build morale and improve working relationships
  • Works with all levels of the organization to ensure consistent practices, addressing complex employee relations and legal issues. Addresses HR issues in a timely manner and facilitates resolutions that are fair and consistent
  • Handles reporting and record keeping for worker’s compensation, unemployment compensation and disability claims, gather data for hearings as necessary, work with insurance carriers toward resolution of all claims.
  • Assists department managers to ensure all employees and managers have access to training and development in areas pertinent to performing their assigned duties and in support of the corporate strategic goals.
  • Assist accounting with 401K program, assist employees with their 401K questions and needs.
  • Facilitates compensation review and recommendations with all departments, conducts annual salary surveys, monitors performance evaluation program.
