Pono Pacific Land Management, LLC was founded with a vision of helping Hawai‘i’s conservation agencies and landowners. Since 2000, we have been providing specialized services to a wide variety of clients in almost every ecosystem in Hawaiʻi, primarily including:
· Native habitat restoration and landscape maintenance
· Invasive species eradication
· Ungulate-proof/predator-proof fence construction
· Predator and ungulate control
· Trail construction & maintenance
We are currently seeking applicants for the Conservation Field Crew position on Oahu, Maui, Kaua’i and Lanai. This position will carry out general conservation field work under close supervision by a Field Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
The ideal candidate will have a flexible schedule similar to an “on-call” availability. A Conservation Field Crew will act in the best interest of the company, act in the best interest of other employees, and act in a fair, safe, effective, and legal manner.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Reliable vehicle or other reliable form of transportation
- Follow directions while working in small groups or independently
- Willing and able to perform physically challenging work in harsh conditions for 8-10 hours a day
- Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds over rough terrain
- Ability to pass a background check and/or gain military base access clearance
- Ability to camp in remote areas for multiple days at a time and/or travel
- Possess a device that can regularly send and receive phone calls, text messages, and emails
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Tree felling experience
- Interest in preserving Hawaiʻi’s native plants, animals, and ecosystems
- Familiarity with both native and invasive species identification
- Familiarity operating power tools such as chainsaws, weed trimmers, etc.
- Experience operating/working with machinery (excavator, skid steer, etc.)
- Helicopter (passenger) experience. Training is available
SCHEDULE
· Full-Time (30-40 hours per week, largely dependent upon weather and projects). This position requires a flexible schedule. Needs the ability to work 1-2+ weeks at a time, and be down from work for similar times. Must be able to travel and camp remotely, Monday through Friday, weekly.
COMPENSATION
· Depends on experience/qualifications and project (minimum starting: $18 per hour)
